What And Who Control Media?
Media plays an important role in the development of a society it shows both sides of a coin to think, to watch, to understand and to analyze as well but there are some factors or forces which controls the media and media does exactly the same or broadcast what they dictate them. The control on media is divided into two factions in Internal it includes Editors, Sub-editors, Reporters it depends upon them that how they show or edit the script or material according to their point of view. Then comes the external control the main problem is of external control which includes corporates as well we can call them investors and shareholders these type of people they effect the media industry which includes both entertainment side as well as news side it’s a common practice all over the world.
Let’s take an example of Bollywood Film industry there was a time back in 90s when Underworld Gods and Mafia used to rule media industry they used to finance the Entertainment industry and facilitate them and in return they used to cast their Actor and Actress. In Corporate ownership the Corporates only wants profit they do not care what audience wants to see they only think about their own profit which is against the ethics of Journalism.
Jang, Dawn, Nawa-e-Waqt when they started they used to have only one or 2 Newspapers but now they have license of more than 5 to 6 channels and their companies are getting bigger and bigger day by day they are the one who decides which Political Party will get more coverage which product will be sold and how this TVC or Advertise will change the thinking of people. They only work for their own profit it also includes Commercials and TVC if a Newspaper has written against any Textile Company or Industry or group the other Textile company or group will not give them any advertise so they have to maintain good relations with them in order to earn profit for their companies and also facilitate the other groups.
Pressure groups like Social activists, ethnical, political, religious also affects the media they threat the reporters to change or edit the news which is against them these groups are supported by influential persons or Industrialist or by any head of any industry.
Scope Of Translation
Video Lectures Review of Sir Sohail Sangi)
The need of interpreter/Translation expert is necessary for every media house because translation plays a vital role in any media house especially in developing countries like Pakistan news is translated in our native languages like Urdu and Sindhi. More than 60% of the material is translated in our native languages like Urdu and Sindhi take an example of the foreign delegates who come to visit in Pakistan i.e. whether they belong to government or non-government organizations they might not understand our language so there is a need of a translator who could translate their language to us and our language to them in order to understand the communication.
When it comes to newspaper or print media the world recognized and authentic news are published in English language all over the world so in order to understand that news or collect that news we have to translate it in our own language so that people can understand it more easily. At present more than 26000 languages are spoken all over the world, books are also translated from English languages to our languages this includes in translation because they translate it from one language to another languag
So translation has a vast scope and the translation experts can easily be facilitated or earn if they know how to translate from source language to target language. Translation is the one which can connect us with different Countries as well as with different Communities.
The language from which we are going to translate the text is known as Source language and the language in which the text is written after copying is called Target language, so in Public Relation departments, Embassies, Tourism Department, Publishing houses, translation has a great significance and importance hence the scope of translation cannot be ignored.
