(Bilal Junejo MMC 15 Video Lectures Review of Sir Sohail Sangi)

What And Who Control Media?

Media plays an important role in the development of a society it shows both sides of a coin to think, to watch, to understand and to analyze as well but there are some factors or forces which controls the media and media does exactly the same or broadcast what they dictate them. The control on media is divided into two factions in Internal it includes Editors, Sub-editors, Reporters it depends upon them that how they show or edit the script or material according to their point of view. Then comes the external control the main problem is of external control which includes corporates as well we can call them investors and shareholders these type of people they effect the media industry which includes both entertainment side as well as news side it’s a common practice all over the world.

Let’s take an example of Bollywood Film industry there was a time back in 90s when Underworld Gods and Mafia used to rule media industry they used to finance the Entertainment industry and facilitate them and in return they used to cast their Actor and Actress. In Corporate ownership the Corporates only wants profit they do not care what audience wants to see they only think about their own profit which is against the ethics of Journalism.

Jang, Dawn, Nawa-e-Waqt when they started they used to have only one or 2 Newspapers but now they have license of more than 5 to 6 channels and their companies are getting bigger and bigger day by day they are the one who decides which Political Party will get more coverage which product will be sold and how this TVC or Advertise will change the thinking of people. They only work for their own profit it also includes Commercials and TVC if a Newspaper has written against any Textile Company or Industry or group the other Textile company or group will not give them any advertise so they have to maintain good relations with them in order to earn profit for their companies and also facilitate the other groups.

Pressure groups like Social activists, ethnical, political, religious also affects the media they threat the reporters to change or edit the news which is against them these groups are supported by influential persons or Industrialist or by any head of any industry.

Scope Of Translation

Video Lectures Review of Sir Sohail Sangi)

The need of interpreter/Translation expert is necessary for every media house because translation plays a vital role in any media house especially in developing countries like Pakistan news is translated in our native languages like Urdu and Sindhi. More than 60% of the material is translated in our native languages like Urdu and Sindhi take an example of the foreign delegates who come to visit in Pakistan i.e. whether they belong to government or non-government organizations they might not understand our language so there is a need of a translator who could translate their language to us and our language to them in order to understand the communication.

When it comes to newspaper or print media the world recognized and authentic news are published in English language all over the world so in order to understand that news or collect that news we have to translate it in our own language so that people can understand it more easily. At present more than 26000 languages are spoken all over the world, books are also translated from English languages to our languages this includes in translation because they translate it from one language to another languag

So translation has a vast scope and the translation experts can easily be facilitated or earn if they know how to translate from source language to target language. Translation is the one which can connect us with different Countries as well as with different Communities.

The language from which we are going to translate the text is known as Source language and the language in which the text is written after copying is called Target language, so in Public Relation departments, Embassies, Tourism Department, Publishing houses, translation has a great significance and importance hence the scope of translation cannot be ignored.

The Lost Bagh "Rani Bagh" Hyderabad Zoo

Bilal Junejo.
MA Previous
 Roll No: 15

There are three things we cry for in life: Things that are lost things that are found and things that are magnificient.

Rani Bagh the "Queens Garden" this Garden was re-christened in the honour of Queen Victoria. There was a time when the Lions used to roar from their cages and that thundering jolting roars were heard in the vicinity of the Zoo and people used to run towards that cage from where the thunderous roars used to come, the Black Bear and Grizzly Bears used to Grumble and Growl, Monkeys of different Species like Chimpanzee, Apes, Walvet Monkeys, Baboons used to chatter, gibber, whoop and screech childrens used to laugh and enjoy while watching them it was a golden time for the residents of Hyderabad. Families from Latifabad and Qasimabad used to came there in majority on weekends it was a jam packed house not less then any Festival. Back in November 2008 Hyderabad Zoo was reconstructed and renovated on the orders of then District Nazim of Hyderabad Mr. Kunwar Naveed Jamil it was inaugurated and Animals from Africa and other Countries were kept there and it wss a golden period of Hyderabad Zoo which i mentioned earlier. Hyderabad Zoo at that time was talk of the town according to the reports of Dawn (2006) the estimate was of RS: 50 Millions for the development of Zoo but later on it had to raise the amount to RS: 60 millions after going through Planning and Tendering. The estimate totalled to be RS: 72 Millions after the District Government added to it the additional cost of RS: 15 Millions was spent on purchase of animals.

Mr. Aftab Ilyas Memon who used to be incharge of the animals in the zoo said due to lack of Town Municipal Administration (TMA) and District Government the funds were not invested properly, till some years the response from the government officials was excellent but then a time came after the local government system was abolished no one cared for the Zoo he further added that today this Zoo is in its worst condition i am working here since 15 years and today we are having only 28 cages with animals in it majority of the cages are empty this is because lack of attention of the Administration, proper shelter not provided to the animals in cold and hot weather, unhygienic and proper food was not provided to the animals, health issues of animals maintaining and cleaning of cages were not done and medical issues of the animals due to these reasons Rani Bagh is in this condition.

A 53 years old Gardner who is working and cuts the grass in the Zoo said i am working here sice 2005 and trust me my heart cries while observing the current situation of Rani Bagh he said there were Parks inside the Zoo where families used to sit and eat snacks families used to came here for picnic as well but today the numbers have gone down at that time this Zoo was the only place in Hyderabad for family entertainment now it is vanished bacause of the new mega projects have opened in Hyderabad and People show less interest to visit here nowadays, further he added many animals from different Countries were kept in pairs (male and female) hence one died due to any reason the other one also died within short time span due to lonliness.

At present there are only few animals left in the Zoo which includes Fellow Deers, Ostrich, Monkeys, Crocodiles, Pigeons, Wild Cats, Parrots, Zebra, Pony Horse, Ducks and Goats. Is this what we call a Zoo? Not at all it was the only cheap affordable and entertaining place which has now vanished completely. Proper attention should have been given to this Zoo so it would have not been in this disastrous condition. Now basically the problem is of powers City Government, Sindh Government and Federal Government who will take steps to reconstruct it? Mayor of Hyderabad Comissioner Hyderabad or Minister of Local Government same again power politics blame game and problems of funds will continue and it would be a miracle if Hyderabad Zoo will again be the same as it was 10 years or 7 years back.

"All the prisoners are not guilty, but they cant do anything about it, After all it is a zoo"

Entertainment Changing Trends.

Roll No 15
People love gossips its the biggest thing that keeps the entertainment industry going. Movies were never an art form they were entertainment it just evolved into an art form from there and its still evolving in different ways.
After the partition Lahore became the hub of cinemas in Pakistan but there was lack of funds to run the industry which paralysed our film industry. But after many hardships first Pakistani film was released "Teri Yaad" in 1948 after that many films were released which reached mediocre success then came "Do Ansoo" in 1950 Do Ansoo was the first film to reach silver jubilee status.
Then a golden era started of Pakistani film industry from 1956 many Indian artists came to Pakistan to work in Pakistani films. This period also saw the birth of Bengali and Sindhi cinema and added Karachi and Dhaka film centers in the country.
After that a period of great change started from 1967-1978 during this period Pakistan witnessed great downfall we lost East Pakistan "Jalte Suraj Ke Neche" was the last Urdu film from the Land of Golden Bengal Now Bangladesh. East Pakistan used to give 33% of the total investment in production.

Many Romantic songs became famous and still are evergreen songs like "Mujhe Dil Se Na Bhulana" "Bijli Bhari Hai Mere Ang Ang Mein" "Jab Koi Pyaar Se Bulaega" "Ko Ko Korina" "Aye Mausam Rangeela Suhane" "Chandni Raatain" and many more. But nowadays Pop music Remix and Rap songs have changed the whole situation of the songs even Coke Studio is one of the biggest change in the entertainment industry and its songs are trending not just only in Pakistan but in India as well these songs gives relaxation to our minds and ears.

Nowadays 3D entertainment animated movies are the biggest change and trending change in our entertainment industry. "RIO 1 and 2" " 3 Bahadurs" "Burqa Avengers" are the best examples of transformation in our industry and the biggest trending change in our industry.

Not only just movies our drama entertainment industry has also grown up on another level our dramas are being praised alot across the border. They are in love with our dramas and their OST (Opening Song Theme) their storyline has proved why they all are worth watching.
The modern drama industry has changed everything there are only two dramas of Pakistan whose last episode was shown in cinemas all over the country. One was "Pyarey Afzal" which still is a remarkable drama and it changed the myth that dramas can also be shown in cinemas. Then recently a blockbuster drama in the history of Pakistan came "Mere Pass Tum Ho" which broke all the records of the entertainment drama industry and its last episode was also shown in cinemas all over  Pakistan even in Dubai as well. Its OST and per episode got millions of views on social media and everyone was crazy about it from kids to elders and still everyone use to play its OST and sing it.

Nowadays social media has provided a platform to showcase your talent to everyone. Many talented singers actors comedians from masses are making their own Youtube channels and Facebook pages to entertain the viewers and to show their talent and they are earning alot from those pages and youtube channels. Many of them those who cant reach to some media giants now can easily be connected  with them by showing their talent. This was not possible in early times buy now social media has provided a platform to broadcast yourself and many people who used to work on social media are now big celebrities just like the beauty queen "Hania Amir"
